  {Another Cheap Art Project!}

So, I love creating art in my home for several reasons.
1.) Its WAY cheaper than buying art at a store.
2.) Its more personal this way
3.) Its WAY cheaper than buying art at a store! lol

For this art project, I am more than happy to say, not only was it CHEAP but some of it was FREE!! I'm not even kidding!

so I started with a basic frame that I got at Garden Ridge for $3.00 on sale. Then I took out the ugly art that was in it and threw it away. Then I took the backing and started gluing on PAINT SAMPLES!!!
No Joke! These are from Ralph Lauren's textured paint line. Some of them are like suede, some are shiny and metallic. I just love them.

I went to Home Depot and just took about 10 of each color that I liked, then brought them home and glued them on with a glue stick.
Let it dry about 2 hours and just slip the backing back into the frame with the glass it came with and hang it up!

Now, sometimes you wont get art that has a back that comes off very easy. That's OK, just tear out the art and then DUCK TAPE the back on! NO JOKE! That's what I did with this one...here I'll prove it! lol You would never have even noticed. :)

Here is a close up of the Paint Samples:

Oh, and while I was trying to get my house all pretty....my blinds decided to break! Ohh...I love life! hehe

***And if your wondering the other piece of art up there is just plain scrap booking paper glued to the backing then duck taped up! lol

Thanks Merrie! Its acutally like a throw thing that I got at Garden Ridge for $15.00. It used to be on my bed, but then I wanted to soften up the mantle a bit so I threw this up there and now I love it! :)

So glad you stopped by at my blog. You are one talented mama. I love everything you have made. So eclectic and fun!

I see you have a love of sky's like myself. I have seen some amazing, and colorful ones and just have to snap a shot. A few times I did not have my camera, or the batteries go dead. BUt then again it's a cheap-o kodak and not a good professional one, lol!

Oh well my pics will have to do. I will be glad to see new projects. Especially the clothes:)

Nikki! Thank you so much for finding my blog! I love yours! I wish I could figure out how to make mine pretty too. All in time I suppose.

Thanks for visiting. Let me know how the recipe goes if you try it!

And I must say... I love your blog! And I love this paint chip idea. Also love that mantle! Did you paint it yourself? I have an unfinished mantle I'm about to paint and install on our huge wall of brick. Also, I was scrolling through your blog and found your chandelier make over. My husband and I are working on an older house we recently bought and guess what is hanging in our dining room? This exact chandelier! (The ugly one. Not the pretty one. I wish!) So I just might have to try this one, too!

Hey Ladies! Thank you all so much for your comments! It means so much to me!!

For those that asked, I did paint the mantle myself. Its the same color I have on the walls in this room, just watered down a bit like glaze. Then I used a damp rag to put it on and a dry rag to take some off and just kept doing that until I had the effect that I liked! :)

BTW, I love the "paint sample" art! I have a few hundred paint samples laying around just asking to be used.

Hi Nikki!
Thank you a million times for posting the back side of your frame with duct tape!! I did that recently and passed the picture off to a consignment store ... oh how I could kick myself for that now! I thought, no one else would put duct tape on the back ... oh how wrong I was! I will use it for now on! :o)
I just adore your scrapbook paper frames. They remind me of quilts (I think I may have said that before)! Your color combinations are beautiful!
I wish I had a Goodwill near by! You have purchased such nice thing, and for pennies on the dollar! I love that! We do have a new thrift store and that has been fun to go to!
Sincerely ~ Tricia Anne
Ps. Sorry so long. :o)
