The first thing I thought was plants! A big fern would look gorgeous in it. That might hide it too much though. Depending on your spaces, it may be cute in the bathroom with towels or wash clothes tucked inside or in a living room by a sitting chair with magazines or something. It could even be a really cool candle holder by the mantle or some other focus point with several pillar candles inside all aglow at night.

Nikki,
Thanks for checking out my blog! I have a giveaway going on now, if you want to sign up! :) I love the style of your blog--so cheerful!

For the birdcage, my idea is paint it if you want to first, then put in rolled, fluffy towels and lovely smelling soap and put by the bathtub.

Blessings,
Stacey

I'm so sorry, but I missed the creative gene - but I know you'll come up with something beautiful!

If it were mine, I would put a large bird nest with eggs in it and maybe a little white bird or something nestled on up to the nest. Are you painting it? I might paint it black or white if it was mine. Let us know what you do with it! I'm sure it will look great!

Depending on what you like, I would paint it. Then, it needs greenery. You could either go with a full scale plant and let it pop out of the holes all over, or you could do an arrangement with some green moss and other mixes of greenery. You could even do something a little wild and have some long feathers coming out of it. I saw you like Nester, and she uses feathers a lot. Don't forget to show us the finished product. OH, I copied down the recipe for the rub. That looks SOOOO good. Thank you!

I really am no good at this sorta stuff. But I really like the ideas above. I like the idea of painting it too. Black would look very elegant. I think I like the plant idea best, go visit the nester she's good at bird cage stuff.

Hi Nikki :)

Thanks so much for leaving a comment! I love that birdcage. How about a stack of books and an old clock inside? Someone did that recently, but I can't remember who. It was cute though :)

I think it would look great in a little flower bed out fron with some kind of vine growing..like a moon vine or morning glory.....Or if it is not to tall...in your dressing area with all of your earrings and necklaces hanging on it! :) Hope you have a great weekend! :)

Wowser, I must of missed those in my store 'cuz I surely would have snapped one up - that's one beautiful cage you've got there Miz Nikki. I love the feathers idea along with some moss covered balls or some sort of candle arrangement with greenery or the bird and nest as mentioned earlier. I know whatever you do it will look amazing. Can't wait to see.

Do you have a home for this yet? That way, I could think of best how to purpose the cage. I do love the look of it. Is it a reddish color?

From the pictures you did for your living room, to me, it looks as if the color as is would match. I love pops of red, though. That is if it is red.

For me, I'm not much a bird person (even though I just bought four for some reason). I have a smaller cage that I painted, put in a faux plant that cascades out of the cage. On the outside of the cage, I clipped a decorative butterfly that I got at Michael's. I smile everytime I look at it. If you need a visual, send me an email and I'll send you a pic.

Good luck!! -- Brandi

I bought that same birdcage for my sister's sunroom. She is going to paint it black and then fill it with candles. The good thing is that since the openings are pretty small, little hands can't get into it to touch the candles. Can't wait to see what you decide.

Nikki,
I roamed around HL several times with that same bird cage but ended up putting it back because, like you, I had no clue what to do with it. I thought of a nest w/eggs and bird but I really don't have a spot to put it and both my bathrooms are tiny so nothing can sit on the floor with the towels, soap, etc. as suggested. I can't wait to see what you end up doing with it.

Okay, I'm really slow at getting back but thank you for dropping by and leaving me a comment. I love your colourful blog. Cute Cute!
The birdcage is really cool. My first thought was to add a big fern or maybe smaller plants like in an terrarium.
I also checked out your goodwill finds. I'm having thrift store withdrawals myself so I have to live through what others are finding. I love the clock. I would have snapped that up too.
Have a wonderful weekend! :)

Hey everyone!! Thank you SOOO much for all of your ideas, I am totally overwhelmed! I cant wait to try them out and see which works best!

For those that asked, its acutally like a darker rusty brown, the color in the room makes it look more red than it really is! :) But I like the idea of doing it black too....hmmmmmmm.....what to do? What to do? :)

Try it on the front porch with some flowers in it. Maybe add some cute little wooden signs to stick in the pot and somewhat hang out of the cage...

I'm liking the idea of a plant...maybe on a deck or porch or in a garden...

I LOVE that!!!

If you go black, why not try something white and apple green inside, I love that combo.

I liked that candle idea, you could even do just one big one, maybe some mossy stuff around on the bottom. Wow, it's so big, you could even put a small lamp in it, lol...I'm really into adding lamps to my home lately;)

Can't wait to see what you do with it!

I am adding you to my bloglist :)

Wow, you've gotten some pretty great ideas so far. I like the ideas of books, candles and bathroom towels. Here's what I can add...
If you put it in your kitchen or dining room it would look cute with a stack of bowls or dishes in it and for fun put a nest or bird on top of the stack. It would be a great spot to house a herb garden.
You could always change it out for the seasons with a nest placed on top of a bunch of moss for spring. In summer it could hold a flowering plant. In the fall, it would be fun to fill with pumpkins and gourds, and in winter fill it with an arrangement of evergreens and/or bare branches with berries and maybe a little bird or two.
Don't think of it as a birdcage, but a really cute basket that you can fill with just about ANYTHING!
I hope I helped to get your creative juices flowing! I'm looking forward to seeing the end result.

I think some nice greenery would look great, or you could put a faux birds nest with some robins eggs. I think you'll end up with something beautiful.

Nikki,
I really like the bird cage. I just picked up one at a yard sale that I'm going to spray paint black. I'm going to help decorate my daughter's porch for a party she's having so I think it will be there.

I really like everyones suggestions!

Whatever you do you can always change it up!
Diane
